This is a medal from our collection of dog show medals. It dates to 1900;the World Exposition, held in Paris, France. This medal was awarded for 3rd place to a French Bulldog...a much smaller breed than the French Mastiff, or Dogue de Bordeaux. The medal features St. Hubertus with his loyal hounds. Hubertus hails a large stag with a cross and aura on its antlers. Mastiffs were used to hunt a variety of wild beasts including bears, boar and wolves. St. Hubertus' seal can be found on FCI Pedigrees world wide. |
